Samuel John Wakem

     Samuel John Wakem was born on 14 April 1890 in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales. Samuel was a dairy farmer in Ladysmith, New South Wales. At one stage he was a cartage contractor using horses and wagon, between Ladysmith and Wagga. During the long hours he learnt the Bible by heart.
     Samuel John Wakem married Doris Lorraine Jennings, daughter of Samuel Jennings and Martha MacPherson, on 8 September 1921 in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales.
     Samuel died in 1969 in Forest Hill, New South Wales. He was gassed in France during World War I and his breathing was affected for the rest of his life.. He was buried in the Old Cemetery, Wagga Wagga, New South Wales.
