(sic) Entered 8 Feb O.S. (1751) - wife Mary Ashby - one half of estate real and personal during widowhood. She is to stand one half of the debts and maintenance of his children in a decent and frugal manner. Son George Ashby - £50 at 21 and 3 negroes; son John £100 at 21; daughter Dorothy Ashby £150 at 18; son Cornelius £100 at 21; daughter Mary Hart Ashby £150 at 18 years; son William, the other half of his estate, real and personal, and paying just debts and legacies, when due, and the whole estate at the death or intermarriage. Executor & executrix: his son William Ashby and wife Mary Ashby. His wife to be the guardian of his children with friends, John Gittens and John Wilson as friends-in-trust.
