Isabella died on 7 October 1900 in 'Calrossie', Yarram, Victoria, aged 90. Obituary: On Sunday evening last, at Calrossie, the residence of Mr and Mrs D T McKenzie and family, Mrs William McKenzie senr. passed away in perfect peace in her 91st year. In fact, the venerable old lady, who had lived to see children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up around her, had been enjoying the condition of semi-consciousness since Wednesday evening, and was quietly and happily awaiting the final call home. For when her thoughtful and watchful attendants offered any nourishment, she gave signs that no refreshments were needed, and that all she wished for was that quiet descent into the valley for which advancing age and a well spent life had been ample preparation.
Four generations were represented in the household when the aged Christian breathed her last; but only 3 generations remain to cherish the memory of Dear Old Granny McKenzie, whose husband predeceased her over 20 years ago, and in whose grave her remains were laid to rest in the southern portion of the Alberton Cemetery yesterday afternoon, in the presence of a large assemblage of relatives and friends.
The burial service was read in an impressive manner by the Rev. F. A. Hagenauer; Mr. William McKerrow, of Alberton, being entrusted with the conduct of the funeral. We need barely add that the coffin was covered with wreaths, crosses and other floral trophies, in token of love and respect for the memory of deceased. She was buried on 9 October 1900 in Alberton, Victoria.
