He was accused of stealing cloth: Edward Bland, conviccted at Bury St Edmunds Quarter Sessions 15 Jan 1827, sentenced to be transported for 7 years for stealing, with James Pearman, a quantity of cloth, etc. to the value of £70, from the shop of John King of Glemsford.      On 14 Feb 1827 the local newspaper reported that On Friday last the following convicts were removed from Bury gaol to the Leviathan Hulk at Portsmouth for transportation, Edward Bland, James Pearman and Isaac Brock. He was transported to Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, arriving 2 August 1827. His ship "Governor Ready" departed London 5 April 1827.
