He was of Hitcham when he wrote his will in 1868 but late of Offton, Maskells Hall. Farmed 360 acres & employed 10 men and 6 boys at Offton in 1861. Bought farm at Hitcham & Wattisham 1867. Left his farm to his wife & to Jos. & E... Hitchcock. Robert Freeman Squirrell was born on 10 March 1813 at 'Red House Farm', Ringshall. He was the son of John Squirrell and Frances Hitchcock.      Samuel Squirrell was involved in a criminal court case on 25 March 1837 at Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. Samuel Squirrel was convicted at Suffolk Assizes, Bury St Edmunds 25 March 1837 and sentenced to be transported - with Charles Draper - for stealing a silver watch and some silver from John Balls, parish clerk of Needham. See the Bury & Norwich Post for further details. He was transported to Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, arriving 21 November 1837. The "Susan" departed from London 8 May.
