Ralph Ryther was born. He is described as Radus Ryther, miles, s.p. eldest son and brother of George, in the 1591 pedigree by George's grandson James. However there is also a Radus Ryther, filus quartus who marries twice and leaves issue in the same pedigree. He was the son of Thomas Ryther and Margaret Appledorefield.

Sir Ralph Ryther was born circa 1451 in Ryther, Yorkshire. He was aged 40 or more at this brother's Inq.P.M. in Aug 1491 and aged 70 at his death in April 1520 according to Raine.. He was the son of Sir William Ryther and Eleanor Fitzwilliam. Sir Ralph Ryther witnessed a will of John Lathom, canon of Beverley as Radulphe Rither, generoso,which was proved 8 August 1476 before 8 August 1476.
Sir Ralph Ryther married Catherine Constable, daughter of Robert Constable (of Flamborough), before 1485. Sir Ralph Ryther was the heir of Sir Robert Ryther at the Inquisition Post Mortem held 2 October 2 Henry VII [1486]. Commission of concealments: Robert Ryder. He died, date unknown, seised in fee of the undermentioned moiety. Ralph Ryder, aged 34 years and more, is brother and heir. York: Moiety of the manor of Harewood worth 100 marks, held of the King in chief by knight service.

We have rest [that is no bucks were to be killed out of the stock in the park at Ryther in that year], and past this summer I wyll pray you to come and kill a bucke with me. I pray you, Cousin, that the bringer hereof, my servant, may have the conyes, and Jesu keepe you. At Ryther, this fryday. By your Cousin, Ralfe Ryther.

Ralph was married to Katherine, daughter of Sir Robert Constable of Everingham. Sir Ralph Ryther was the heir of Sir Robert Ryther at the Inquisition Post Mortem held in Yorkshire on 3 August 1491. Robert Ryther, knt. Writ wanting; inquisition 3 Aug 6 Hen.VII. He died seized of the under-mentioned moiety of the manor of Harwod in tail male, by the gift of Thomas Thwates, and William Barker, made by way of fine, with the King's licence, to one William Ryther, Knt, and Sibyl his wife, thereof, in tail male, with remainder in default to the right heirs, he being cousin and heir male of the said William and Sibyl, viz., son of William, son of William their son.

Sir Ralph Ryther married secondly Maude or Matilda Percy circa 1500. His second wife was Maud daughter of Henry Percy 4th? Earl of Northumberland, who survived him (her stepson's inquisition). Sir Ralph Ryther was Sheriff of Yorkshire in 1503. He was probably a member of the royal household, he was appointed KB on Prince Henry's creation as Duke of York on 1 November 1494, and was made a Knight Banneret in 1497 while campaigning in Scotland.
Between 1504 and 1515, Ralph Ryther, knight v. William Gascoigne, knight.: Refusal to pay, as agreed after arbitration, complainant being surety, to James Stanley, esquire, a life annuity for the fee simple of the manor of Thorp in Balne.: York.

On 7 Oct 1510 Sir Ralph enfeoffed Sir William Percy and others with his two Lincolnshire manors Alford and Kelcottes, for the use of 'Dame MAtilde' his wife, for her life.
Sir Ralph Ryther was mentioned in a deed dated 7 October 1511 in Alford, Lincolnshire. By deed dated 7 Oct 3 Hen VIII [1511], Sir Ralph had by feoffment passed over the manors of Keliotts and Alford in Lincolnshire, to the use of his son Ralph & his heirs.
Sir Ralph Ryther made a will dated 26 March 1520. His will made on the 26 March 1520 directs burial at Ryther and mentions his daughter Elizabeth, son and heir Thomas, son Henry (under 18) and daughter Elyn Aske. There is no mention of Harewood. His son Thomas was one of the executors.
Ralph died on 2 April 1520 in Sheffield, Yorkshire. Oct 7, 3 Hen VIII according to his son's will ?. He was buried after 2 April 1520 in All Hallows, Ryther, Yorkshire.
