     After the family had grown up, he moved to Oakleigh and then Elsternwick. He suffered a stroke which kept him bed-ridden for 5-6 years.
     George died of paraplegia, asthenia & heart failure on 2 June 1922 in 124 Murray Street, Caulfield, Victoria, aged 77. He was buried on 3 June 1922 in Brighton.

While assisting to replace a car on the rails at the Maryborough railway yards on Friday night two railways employees, William Oliver and George Ruby, were crushed to death between the car, which fell backwards while being raised, and an engine tender. Both the unfortunate men were rcsideuts of the town and mar- ried. One of them leaves five cLildren. A coroner's inquest was held regarding his death on 3 September 1925. He was buried in Maryborough.
