Whe he retired they moved to some land on which there was a mine that his father operated many years before. They worked it a little, but became interested in publishing a small newspaper which was entirely related to mining. They published it almost up to the time they died.
They did a lot of speaking and crusading in trying to get the price of gold raised. He once testified before a Congressional Committee in Washington, D.C.
They always said that the mines had shut down because the cost of getting the gold out of the ground was too much. Unfortunately he did not live to see the price of gold raised.
