     Edmund Rich was born in 1869. He was the son of Frank West Rich and Mary Elizabeth Elliott. Edmund and Roland were listed as the children of Frank West Rich in the 1871 census in 10 Bath St, Westgate, Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland.

     Edward Rich was born before June 1838 in Berkshire. An Edward Rich was registered in the fourth quarter of 1837 in St James RD London. He was the son of Hamor Rich and Mary Elizabeth South.
     Edward Rich appeared on the 1841 census in the household of John Rich and Mary Keen in Adelaide Square, New Windsor, Berkshire.

     Edward Rich was born on 14 July 1806 in Gloster Row, London, England. He was the son of John Rich and Mary Keen. Edward Rich was christened on 7 September 1806 in St Leonard, Shoreditch.
     Edward Rich married Maria Unknown before 1834.
     An Edward Rich was crew on the Children which departed Launceston 29 Oct 1837 for Portland Bay.
     Edward Rich arrived per "Clifton" on 23 September 1841 at Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Mr Edward Rich arrived Sydney as the only passenger per "Clifton" 23 Sep 1841, 283 tons, from London. Departed Downs 22 May, lading merchandize, general cargo, 1 cabin passenger, 15 crew.

     St Andrews Anglican Church 100 St Andrews Rd, Epsom, Auckland: has on the door: This site, the gift of Edward Rich, had a chapel built on it in 1846. This church in the Selwyn tradition was designed by the Rev Dr Kinder and built in 1867. See his brother John for possible voyages to and from New Zealand and Australia.
     Edward Rich lived at Auckland, 1846. His occupation was listed as: store.
     In 1847 he was mentioned at Albert St, Auckland as a bonded store-keeper.

     Edward Rich arrived on 26 November 1848 at Auckland, NZ. Mr Rich to NZ. There are other references for Mrs Rich & children, but there was another Rich family in New Zealand at this time.
     On 21 Apri l 1849 he advertised his bonded store in Queen Street.
     Edward Rich lived at Gilbert St, Auckland, from 1850 to 1852. In 1850 he was a merchant; in 1851 a settler; in 1852 a merchant.
     In 1851 his brick cellar in Queen St (rented) approved to receive goods under bond 34a 4(66); Land Commission & Estate Agent; advts New Zealander July 12 p1(2).

     The 1860 NZ government gazette published a list of 22 people licenced to act as Customs House Agents at the port of Auckland for the ending 31 Dec 1860 which included Edward Rich, Queen-street wharf, Auckland.
     Edward Rich lived at Wakefield Street, Auckland, between 1867 and 1869. Auckland City East - Wakefield St, dwelling, but not listed there from 1872.
     On 12 Feb 1876 an Edward Rich of Auckland apolies for employment but no vacnacies available..
     Edward died of apoplexy on 27 January 1879 in Baker Street, Auckland, New Zealand, aged 72. His death certificate described him as aged 75, born in Ewell Yorkshire (sic), a Customs House agent and he had one male and one female living issue. He had been 36 years in the colony.
The New Zealand Herald listed a death notice: On Jan 27, Mr Edward Rich. The funeral will leave his late residence Baker Street, 3 o'clock this day. Friends please accept this invitation.
There is no record of probate in New Zealand. He was buried on 30 January 1879 in Symonds Street cemetery, Auckland. The Anglican Sexton's list has Edward & Mrs Rich at Block K 135 and K 136. The St Paul's register has Edward Rich buried 30 January 1879 aged 75 years of Baker Street.

     Edward Rich was born before 1535 in Penistone, Yorkshire. He was the son of William Rich and Ann? Unknown.
     Edward Rich married Elizabeth Turton, daughter of Richard Turton, circa 18 May 1555. Edward signed a marriage settlement on 18 May 1555 in Penistone, Yorkshire. Richard Turton of Pykering agrees to convey to William Ritche of Bullowes (in consideration of a marriage between Edward Ritche, his son and heir and Elizabeth Turton, daughter and heir of Richard), manor, lands etc. of Richard or of Thomas his father in Thurleston and they agree to settle on the married pair 2 messuages and mylnes called the Mylnhouses and a yearly rent of 13/4 from certain lands in Thurlestone and 2 messuages called Smalshay after the death of Elizabeth the mother of Richard Turton.
     Edward Rich married Alice Unknown in Penistone, YKS. Edward's will mentions his wife Alice according to the College of Arms, but I cannot find her name in the document.There is no evidence to date for the mother of his children. Could Alise be Elise? An Alis Rych had a son Mychell Rych baptised on 29 September 1583 at Mexborough, Yorkshire.
     Edward Rich was mentioned in a deed dated 8 September 1576 in Penistone, YKS. Arbitration: Edward Rich of Boulas, Raffe Marsden of Carlcote, John Ebotson of Haselhede and Rauffe Bastoke of the Wodhede abitrators in the dispute concerning a gate Crossegate in Carlecotes.... On 19 October 1583 William Rich and Edward Rich leased property in Smallshaw, Penistone. Lease: William Rich of Bulhous amd Edward Rich his son and heir to John Gledell of Smallshawe. 1/3 part of a messuage called Smallshawe in Thurlestone, parish of Penistone for 40 shillings a year for 20 years.
     Edward Rich of Bullhouse in the parish of Peniston, co. York, 30 Elizabeth (1587). [Hunter, Harleian v.37, p.41]. He was executor of his father's will in 1598/9.
     Edward Rich was named in the in December 1587 militia list taken in Barnsley, Silkstone, Yorkshire. He was a pikeman of Thurleston: Musters taken of the Privat men & town soldiers within the wapentake of Staincross at Barnsleye, 13 Dec 1587 by Richard Wortleye and George Woodroff, Esquiers: Thurlstone - Privat Men: P Edwarde Riche, F. Thurlstone sent a strong detachment to the muster at Barnsley Dec 4 1587, at the alarm of the Spanish invasion.
During Michaelmas term, 1596 Edward Rich purchased property during Michaelmas term, 1596. Land in Hunshelf & Bradfield by a fine. Edward Riche & Edward Barber, plaintiffs v. Francis Greaves & Dionisia his wife, John Greaves & Elizabeth his wife, re seven messuages & a fulling mill with lands in Huntshelf , Snowdenhill (Snowden Mill) & Bradfeilde. Edward Rich and Richard Rich was mentioned in the marriage settlement for Amor Rich and Alice Burdett dated 24 July 1598. Post nuptial settlement: William Riche of Bollows in Thurlestone to Francis Greave of Hunshelf and William Hinchcliff of Bilcliff, in consideration of the marriage already solemnised between Aymer Riche (one of the sons of Edward Riche son and heir of the said William) and Alice Burdett (one of the daughters of Henry Burdett of Walton), the manor of Smallshaie and capital messuage called Smallshaie and appurtenances in Smallshaie, Thurlestone & Thurlestone meare and the capital messuage called Roide and the capital messuage called Milnehowse and fulling mill and one water corn mill in Thurlestone with a yearly rent of 13/- out of several lands in Thurlestone (all lately purchased of Richard Turton of Pickeringe) and the capital messuage called Bollowes with lands, etc. and a water corn mill at Bollows in order that a fine may be levied, settling the estate on William, Edward and Aymer Riche in succession, with reversion to Richard Riche, brother of Aymer, in default of issue, also it is agreed that a settlement may be made on Alice of the Smallshaie and Milnhouse property for her jointure. Edward Rich was mentioned in a conveyance of property on 24 July 1598. By feoffment:Adaimer Riche of Milnehouse in Thurleston, one of the sons of Edward Rich of Bollowes to Richard Rich, his brother. Messuage called Raynowe in Thurlestone and Thurlestone Meare with reversion to the grantor.
     In William Rich's will dated 24 August 1598 in Penistone, YKS,, Edward Rich was named as heir; In the name of God amen 24 August 1598 I William Riche of Bullos in the pish of Penistone ... my body to be buried at the discretion of my executors and my mortuary to be paid according to the ...
Item my will is that the poor people of the parish of Pennystone shall have towards their relief 13/4 for seven years next ... following the day of my death to be paid .. and upon the first Friday in lent in the pish thereof Pennistone at the discretion of my executors ... churchwardens for the ... being at one ... and .. payment

He was an executor of William Rich's estate on 25 April 1599 in the Prerogative Court of York.
     Edward Rich made a will dated 6 August 1 James I (1603) in Thurlstone, Penistone, Yorkshire. In the name of god Amen: I Edward Rich of the Bulhouse in the township of Thurleston and County of York being of perfect memory make this my last will and testament this sixth of August the first year of our soveraigne Lord James by the grace of god of England Scotland France & Ireland king defender of the faith etc AD 160-. First I commend my soul into the hands of god trusting assuredly to be saved by the redemption of Christ Jesus & my body to be buried in the parish church of Peniston And for my worldly goods I will they be disposed in maner & form following viz:
First I give & bequeath to Richard Riche my son one great arke in the lower chamber and a yoke of black oxen, and a yoke of stottes.
Item I give to John Wordsworth two less stottes a black and a red.

Note that his other son Amor is not a beneficiary of the will, presumably because he is the heir of his grandfather.
     Edward died before 10 August 1603 in Penistone, YKS. He was buried on 10 August 1603 in Penistone.
     His will was proved on 3 October 1605 in PCY.

     Edward Rich signed his name as "R within a square." He was christened on 5 December 1619 in Penistone, Yorkshire. Edward, son of John Rich the vth of December. He was mentioned in his father's will in 1627. He was the son of John Rich and Ellen Wilson.
     In John Rich's will dated 4 February 1626/27 in Penistone, YKS,, Edward Rich was named as heir; His will mentions his children Edward, Sara and Maria Rich, his pregnant wife Ellin Rich, John Rich and Aymor Rich.
     In the name of god Amen. The Fourth day of February 1626. I John Riche of Roid in the parish of Peniston & county of York yeoman being sick in body and in good & perfect remembrance praised be god make this my last will & testament
     First I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty god hoping
assuredly to be saved by the death and passion of Christ Jesus and my body to be buried in the parish church or churchyard of Peniston And for my worldly goods my will is that they be disposed in manner and form following.
     First I give and bequeath to EDWARD Rich my son and heir one silver ring which my Father did give me

     Item my will is and I give full power and authority to Ellen my wife whom I make [full crossed out] executor of this my last will and testament to sell convey and assure two Closes lying and being in Thurlestone Meare in the County of York which I lately purchased of John Maresden of Fenwicke called and known by the names of the Rie Roide and Rought Inlake and are now in the occupation of William Maresden his Father And the price & money received for the said two Closes to help for ^to the paying & discharging of my debts if so be that if my other goods will not extend to pay my debts Provided always that if my other other goods will pay my debts That then the said two Closes or the price of them to be reserved unto my younger children before expressed

The Second day of August 1623. Edward and Edward was a defendant in a court case on 10 June 1641 in Thurlstone, Penistone, Yorkshire, England. Edward Riche of Thurleston, yeoman, and Mary his wife, for breaking and entering there on 10 June 1641, along with many other persons unknown, the dwelling house of John Goddard and making an assault upon him and wounding and maltreating him. Witn. John Goddard. (At large. Put themselves, not guilty). Edward was a witness for the prosecution on 1 October 1641 in Barnsley, Silkstone, Yorkshire, England. John Goddard of Thurlstone, husbandman & Frances his wife, on 1 Oct 1641 & before & since breaking and entering the close of Edward Riche at Thurlestone, and throwing down the hedges and fences; also with assaulting and maltreating John Riche. Witn. Edw. Rich, Edw. Hawkesworth. (At Barnsley, 19 Jan 1641/2, put themselves on the clemency of the Court, fine 3s 4d, estreated]..      
Edward Rich and Edward Rich paid 3/4 tax on land in Thurleston in 1642 in Penistone, YKS.
     Edward Rich married Ellen Street, daughter of Reginald Street, on 31 August 1642 in Ecclesfield, Yorkshire. Edward Rich, yeoman 27 of Ecclesfield & Elenor Street, spinster, of Sheffield. This makes a 5 year discrepancy for Edward - perhaps it is another Edward. Hobson states 31 July.
Edward Rich was trustee to a marriage settlement between Edward Rich and Sarah Rich dated 29 October 1667. Counterpart of settlement: William Wordsworth of Softley to Francis Haigh of Carlcoates and Edward Rich of Raynor House, parish of Penistone, yeoman, a messuage called Softley in the parish of Penistone with all buildings and lands belonging in consideration of a marriage solemnised between John Wordsworth, son of William Wordsworth and Sarah, daughter of Reginald Rich of Parkinhouse to stated uses. Sealed and signed in the presence of Edward Rich and others. Edward Rich made his mark of an R within a square.
     Settlement dated 16 Dec 1668: John Smith of Bancke Howse or Carrhowse in Thurlstone meare, to Edward Rich of Reynon in Thurlestone meare and Francis Senior of Thurlstone. Messuage called Bankehowse alias Carrhowse in Thurlestone, the Croft adjoining, the Over Coyte close, the Nether Coyte Close, the Inge, Inge Botham, the Carr and Carr botham for £117 paid by John Wordsworth of Rodwoode in Thurlstone in accordance with the will of Ann Smith, mother of said John Smith to purchase land for John Smith's children, John Smith, Thomas Smith and Martha Smith, in trust to stated uses.
     Edward Rich and Edward Rich were mentioned in the 1672 hearth tax list in Thurlstone, Penistone, for 1 hearth. The 1672 Hearth Tax for South Yorkshire lists two Edwards, sr. & jr. each with one hearth at Thurlestone. None are mentioned in the parishes of Silkstone or Cawthorne.
     Edward Rich made a will dated 19 December 1682 in Penistone. His will mentions his eldest son John, and younger children Emanuel executor, William, Emor executor, Reginald, Martha, Mary, Sarah & Helen.
In the name of God Amen the nineteenth day of December in the 34th year of Chas II 1682 ... I Edward Rich of Renall in the parish of Penistone and co. of York yeoman being in perfect memory praised be God for the same and doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament in manner and forme following. First and principally I committ my soule unto the hands of Almighty God my maker ... And my bodye I committ to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors hereafter nominated ...
I give and bequeath unto John Rich my eldest son his heirs and assigns for ever all my messuage or tenement at Renall afsd with all the houses buildings and and herediments whatsoever to the said messuage belonging, provided nevertheless that my said son John Rich or his heirs shall not enter to the same till the second day of February which shall ... next after my decease and after that my younger children shall and make ... and take the herbage and grass growing upon the said lands until the eighth day of April. ... to the first day of May ... after my decease my said son John his heirs and assigns having full ... liberty from and after the said second day of February to enter into the said lands ... the same in order to the making of his cropp

     Edward died before 27 March 1684 in Penistone, Yorkshire. He was buried on 27 March 1684 in Penistone. Sepulti Edvardus Rich de Renal.
     His will was proved on 26 November 1684 in the Prerogative Court of York. He was mentioned as a deceased tenant in the manorial rolls dated date missed 1685?, in Thurlstone, Penistone, YKS, ENG, We present that John Rich is heir of Edward Rich, late of Renall deceased.

     Edward Rich was born circa 1590? In Penistone, Yorkshire. Probably the Edward, eldest son of Aymor, who was deceased with adult children when mentioned in Aymor's will of 1652.. He was the son of Amor Rich and Alice Burdett.
     Edward Rich married Agnes Unknown before 1613. This marriage is based on her burial entry. There is no evidence that she is the mother of Edward's children, nor this Edward's wife.

     Edward died before 3 January 1638 in Thurlstone, Penistone, Yorkshire, England. This death seems more likely to relate to Edward, son of Richard of Royd, than to Edward son of Aymor who had issue.
This may be the Edward Rich of Thurleston whose estate was administered in 3 January 1637/8 by Richard Hatfield. Daniel's father Edward was mentioned late of Thurlstone in Aymor's will of 1652, but his son Daniel was only heir apparent which implies he hadn't died. Amor also had a son Daniel. The court cases imply he was alive after 1638..

Is this Edward with no known issue, son of Richard of Royd, or Edward of Millhouse, son of Amor who had died before 1652 leaving issue including Daniel.
