He entered Woolwich Yard as Servant to the Master Shipwright on 24 July 1746 [ADM 42/1894], being discharged on 30 August 1749 and entereing as a Shipwright on his own account [ADM 42/1897]. He became a Quarter Man in 1750, and Foreman Afloat at 3/- a day on 26 February 1756 [ADM 42.1903]. He was discharged 5 March 1771 [ADM 42/1918, and entered Deptford yard the next day as Master Boat builder at the same wage [ADM 42/424]. He was discharged from Deptford on 8 October 1772 [ADM 42/425], and entered Woolwich Yard next day as Master Caulker and second Assistant to the Master Shipwright at £80 p.a. [ADM 42.1769]. He was discharged from Woolwich on 16 February 1775 [ADM 42/1772], and entered Deptford Yard the next day as Master Shipwright's Assistant at £100 p.a. [ADM 42/428], being discharged dead on 4 September 1789, his salary being paid to the widow, Mary, the Executrix [ADM 42/442].

He was still the servant of Richard Earle in 1721 [ADM 42/833], and would have been of an age to be the husband of Elizabeth Fawler.
