Thomas to pay Richard his brother the same. He wills that Richard his brother, Henrie Johnson, Roger Berwicke and John Dawson be supervisors. Thomas sisters Beatrix, Agnes, Elizabeth and Alice (his daughters) to have xl s towards their marriages. His wife and daughters to be executrixes.
     Thomas died before February 1558/59 at Wakefield, Yorkshire.

In Jan 2001 I cannot find the source of this marriage which was entered as 22 Oct 1656.. Thomas was widowed before 13 June 1664 at Belton, Lincolnshire, on the death of his wife Christine Unknown.
     Thomas Popplewell (son of Humphrey, Beltoft) and Dorothy Medley obtained a marriage licence in November 1664 at Lincoln, Lincolnshire. The marriage bond described them as Thomas Popplewell de Belton, yeoman aged 30 and Dorothy Medley of Belton (Axholme) aged 25. He signed Tho Poplewell.
     Thomas Popplewell (son of Humphrey, Beltoft) married Dorothy Medley in December 1664 at Belton, LIN. Thomas the son of Humphrey Popplewell, gentleman, & Dorothy Medley, widow, was married the ... day of December.. He was a churchwarden at Belton, LIN, in April 1670.
     In Humphrey Popplewell's will dated before May 1670? At Belton, Thomas Popplewell (son of Humphrey, Beltoft) was named as heir; His will mentions his son William & his wife (and his sons Humphrey, Thomas, William, David & John - all minors), his sister Haldenby, his son John & his wife [and his children Elizabeth, John & Humphrey - all minors], his daughter Ann & her husband Richard Kynman [and their children William, J---, George, Isabell & Franci/es] and his son Thomas Popplewell who is made executor - presumably the eldest son
     In the name of God Amen I Humfrey Poplewell of Beltoft in the Isle of Axholme in the County of Lincoln yeoman being in health & of good & perfect rememrance thanks be to Allmightie God do make this my last will & testament in manner & form following
First I give my soule sowle to almight[ie] God my maker & to Jesus Christ his only Son & my Saviour & hopeth that my sowle shalbe saved [illegible] the death & passion & my body to be buryed in the parish Church of Belton near my stalle doore

Item I give and bequeath to Christine Poplewell and Issabell Poplewell my daughters one acre of meadow or pasture lying in the wheate close & two acres of meadow or pasture lying in Weenall in Beltoft to be equally divided betwixt them by the supervisors of this my will or other friends
     Item my will is that if either of my said daughters die before the age of twenty & one years that part of meadow given unto her so dying shall remain unto the surviving daughter [illegible] both happen to depart their natural lives before their ages above said, Then my Will is that Dorothy my loving wife shall have the said meadow pasture during her life natural. And then to Remain unto the children of Willyam Poplewell my brother their heirs Executors & assigns for ever equally to be divided amongst them by whom they shall elect my Will is that ------ Issabell my daughters depart their natural life before their ages of twenty and one years, Then [my] Will is and I give the said Messuages lands and & other hereditaments last given and recited unto my loving wife during her life natural : And after the decease of the said Dorothy I give devise the Cheife Messuage wherein I doe now dwell with buildings orchards gardens Courtyards croft and ­ close to the same adjoining with the appurtenances to Humfrey Poplewell my nephew his heirs and Assigns for ever.

     This is probably the will that Dr Joy Lloyd writes about in her thesis as having an exceptionally large number of cattle (41).
     Thomas died before 25 March 1673 at Belton, LIN. He was buried on 25 March 1673 at Belton.

     It is interesting that she and her husband were not mentioned in her father's will but were in her mother's will. However her son John appears to be mentioned as his grandson.. Thomasin Popplewell was christened on 18 April 1633 at Belton, Lincolnshire. She was the daughter of David Popplewell (son of David, of Belton) and Jane Brewer.
     Thomasin Popplewell married John Popplewell, son of James Popplewell and Jane Kinman, on 28 July 1656 at Belton, Lincolnshire. The intention of the marriage of John Popplewell of this parish, yeoman and Thomasin Popplewell, spinster, daughter of David Popplewell of the same place was published in our church the 13, 20 & 27 days of June.

     In Jane Brewer's will dated 23 July 1670 at Belton, Thomasin Popplewell was named as heir; In the name of God amen the three and Twentheth day of July in the two and Twenteth yeare of Charles the second of England King & c : Anno Domini 1670 I Jane Poplewell of Beltofte in the parish of Belton in the Isle of Axholme & County of Lincoln widow sick and weak in body but perfect of remembrance thanks be to God do make this make last Will and Testamente in manner followinge
     First & cheifely I bequeath my soul to All mighty God my mercifull father & his son my Redeemer and my body to the ground to be buried in the parish Church or Church yard of Belton at the discretion of my friends and Executor and my worldly goods as followeth
     I give unto Thomas Poplewell my son my silver dish
     I give to James Poplewell my son one silver spoone and ---e Gunn/lynn sheete
     Item I give unto Robert Poplewell my sonne -e silver spoone and one ---n sheete.
