Peter MacPherson was born circa 1819 in Kirkmichael, Banffshire, Scotland. He may be the son of Peter who was "not a good tenant and to be removed from the estate".. He was the son of Alexander MacPherson and Anne Grant.

He may have been the Peter, residing at Ballinbone, who married Elizabeth Stuart residing at Mains of Inverourie, both of this parish, 9 Dec 1847 at Kirkmichael? However this Peter went on to have 6 children and died at Rothes. See George Watts notes. He was not in Kirkmichael in 1851 census.

Their children were baptised at the RC chapel in the Braes of Glenlivet. They then moved to New Spynie by 1852 then to Orbliston in the parish of Speymouth by 1856. In 1858 they were at Blackhills in the parish of Elgin. All the children were baptised as Catholics, but he was described as a Protestant in 1861. By 1865 they were living at Rothes.

William MacPherson was born illegitimate circa 1868 in Middlebridge, (Betley), Victoria. Neil Forbes in a telephone conversation 18 April 1990, says that he was the son of his reputed eldest sister Margaret who later married Donald Forbes but was brought up by Peter & Ann. He is not listed as a child on Peter or Ann's death certificates and there is no record of his birth. He was the son of Margaret Ann MacPherson.
William MacPherson married Isabella Forbes, daughter of James Forbes and Jane Macfarlane, on 12 October 1897 in St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Eddington, Victoria. William was a farmer in Eddington, Victoria. Alexander MacPherson, Charles MacPherson and William MacPherson was an executor of Peter MacPherson's estate on 13 December 1904.
William McPherson, a pioneer of the Eddington district lived on the borders of Eddington and Betley, and his family was well known for its philanthropic work. William McPherson and his wife Isabella, were regular worshippers at the Eddington Presbyterian church, where William was a Sunday school teacher and an elder of the church.
Their son James, and his wife Heena, carried on the fine family traditions. James Forbes McPherson died on May 22 1961 a the age of 54 years. [M. Booth, Wangaratta p.45]
He was known as Willie and had a farm called Laurie.
William died on 4 January 1940 in Dunolly, Victoria. He was buried on 6 January 1940 in Eddington, Victoria.
