     Maria Mackglew and Charles Hamor Rich arrived per "Warrior" on 28 July 1833 at Sydney. Maria Rich 26 with her husband 'Charles' aged 32 , clerk? and son Charles aged 3. This may be her brother in law Charles, or her husband John. The ship came from London via Hobart Town.
     Maria died on 16 January 1838 in Hunter Street, Sydney, New South Wales, aged 33. On the 11th instant, after a lingering illness, in the thirty third year of her age, Maria, the wife of Mr Rich of Hunter St. She was buried on 17 January 1838 in Devonshire St cemetery, from St Philip's, Sydney. Maria Rich died 16th January 1838 aged 33 years, also Martha Abbot, wife of Alexander Abbot and sister of the above, died 17 Dec 1839 aged 31.

     Martha Mackglew married Alexander Abbott on 11 October 1836 in St Andrew's Scot's church, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. They were both single of this parish. Cynthia Haswell & Frederick C Haswell were witnesses.
     Martha died on 17 December 1839 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, aged 31. She was buried in Devonshire St cemetery, Sydney. Her remains were removed to Bunerong cemetery.

     Colleen Dick wrote: They later adopted a son also named Robert in the late 1880's or possible 1890ish. It is my understanding that this Robert was in fact a direct relative of theirs but I don't have any other info on that.

Elizabeth, the wife of James McGlue, labourer of Smithfield gave evidence into the death of her daughter Mary McGlue.

     Robert Mackglew was a witness for the prosecution on 17 February 1808. Robert Macklew stated in the case against Daniel Walker: I am a linen draper , I live on the Pavement, Moorfields . On the 26th of January, about five o'clock, a neighbour of ours brought in the prisoner, saying this is he, I saw him come from the other end of the road; I suspected something was gone. I went and looked at the door, I saw a piece of printed cotton was gone; I had seen it not a minute before.
     Robert Mackglew lived at 4 City Rd, Finsbury, London, 25 August 1809. Robert was a witness for the prosecution on 20 September 1809 in Old Bailey Sessions, London. Sarah Ennever, alias Morris, was indicted for feloniously forging on the 25th of August, a promissory note for the payment of 2 l. with intention to defraud Robert Mackglew.
Second count, for uttering and publishing as true a like forged note, she knowing it to be forged, with the same intention.
Third count, for feloniously offering a like forged promissory note with intention to defraud Robert Mackglew, she knowing it to be forged and counterfeited.
William Cullen: I live at No. 4, City-road, Finsbury; with Robert Mackglew, a linen-draper. On the 25th of August last, between the hours of eleven and twelve, the prisoner came to our shop alone, she asked for some calico, she wished them to be remnants, as she lived with a lady that was a benevolent person, she purchased them for the purpose of giving them away to poor people, she did not say who that person was. I sold her two remnants for five shillings, she produced a two pound note. I perceived it to be of Westham, Essex bank; I gave it to John Spring, who has the management of the concern, No. 4, in the City-road; he told the prisoner that we did not take country notes, but if she would wait he would send to a friend of his, meaning to Mr. Mackglew, at his other shop, Pavement, Moorfields, or to the Banking-house where it was made payable; she consented to it, and stopped; he sent Martha Spring, his little girl, to Mr Mackglew; Martha Spring came back with Mr Mackglew, he presented the note to the prisoner and asked her if it was her's; she said it was. I went to Worship-street office and brought Mr. Ray, the officer, with me; he searched the prisoner and found no other notes upon her.
Q. Was any thing said in the prisoner's presence whether any body had doubted it before - A. The prisoner said to me that she had endeavoured to negotiate it in the neighbourhood; the person objected to it, being a country note. That was after I had shewed it to Mr. Spring.
Q. Then it was while Mr. Spring had the note, was it - A. Yes.
Mr. Knapp. So this person came to your shop to utter a forged note and told you that it had been objected to before - A. She told me that she had offered it to a neighbour, and they objected to it because it was a country note.
Q. Then you did not like the note, you sent it out by Martha Spring, and desired the prisoner to wait - A. Yes; she waited twenty minutes in the shop.
Robert Mackglew: I have two shops; the note was brought to me at my house on the Pavement, Moorfields; I went back and saw the prisoner; I addressed her, and said is this the lady that owns the note; she said yes; I asked her where she had got it; she said she had taken it from a lodger of the name of Ipsditch, a shoemaker; and she lived in Old Bethlem, I think she said No. 9. I asked her if she knew whether it was a good note; she said she believed it was. I saw it was directed to Postlewaite, London; I asked her where that Postlewaite resided; she seemed to hesitate; in a little time she said she believed in Tooley-street. There was Westham, Essex, upon the note. On further questioning of her she said she believed the banking house was a large shop. I saw it was a new note, the writing was fresh; It was dated in January.
John Ray: I am an officer of Worship-street office. I took the prisoner into custody. This note was delivered to me; I have had it ever since. I went down to Westham to see whether there was any such firm of Davey, Brathwaite, and co; there was not. I made enquiries in Tooley-street, there I found in Church-alley a person of the name of Postlewaite. I enquired at No. 9, Old Bethlem, the prisoner did live there.
The prisoner was not put on her defence. Not guilty. Robert was a witness for the prosecution on 20 September 1809. Robert Mackglew was the victim in the trial of Sarah Ennever for forgery. He was listed in a directory dated between 1811 and 1815 as Robert Mackglew, linen-draper at 19 Pavement, Finsbury, London.

     In John Valentine Mackglew's will dated 26 August 1814 in Kingsland Road, Shoreditch,, Robert Mackglew was named as executor of the estate. Harriett Grant and Robert Mackglew was an executor of John Valentine Mackglew's estate on 23 September 1814 in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury.
     He was mentioned as Mr Mackglew, linen-draper of no. 11 Pavement, Moorfields in The Times 3 March 1819 for inquiries about furnished apartments to let; and again on 28 Sep 1819 for a house in the country as Mr Mackglew, 19? Pavement, Moorfields.
     In the Police column of the Times 14 Sep 1820, a column headed: Mansion House - Uttering forged notes - A decent looking female, far advanced in pregnancy, with at infant at her breast and another child at her side, was brought up at this office, and underwent an examination on a charge of having uttered a forged bank-note at the shop of Mr Macglew, linendraper. This was the second person, within a week, who was brought before the Magistrate by Mr Macglew, charged with having uttered a forged bank-note.
V Cross, the shopman of Mr Macglew, stated that the prisoner went into their shop on Friday evening last, and bought drapery to the amount of 16s; in payment she tendered a £1 note, which the witness instantly perceived to be a forgery. The prisoner gave her name and address, James, No. 13, Windsor Terrace, City-road; but on its being intimated to her that an officer would be sent with her to ascertain whether her statement was true, she showed a disposition to make her escape, which was prevented, She afterwards confessed that it was not her address that she had given, and said she had .... He and Martha Mackglew witnessed John Wood and Cynthia Mackglew's wedding on 19 March 1829 in London.      Robert died on 11 July 1836 in Morden College, Surrey, aged 61. Died - On the 11th July last, at Morden College, Mr Robert Mackglew, aged 63.

There was also an Ann Edwards? visitor, unmarried aged 31, cook and two other servants.
     On 11 Nov 1852 Robert McGlew & Benj. Oldham dissolved their partnership as wool-brokers of 77 Basinghall Street, London by mutual consent. The company appears to have continued in his name. In 1924 R McGlew & Co., was again dissolved by DG Boyd Sime & J B Newman.

     T M Newman of Newmarket, Nailsworth, entered partnership as a wool broker with R. Lacey of Stroud in 1854. Wool bought in London first from German but increasingly from Australian sources was sold to Stroud area and Wiltshire clothiers. He was also an insurance agent. He died in 1906 but his sons and grandsons continued the business until 1963 when Mr R M Newman, the depositor of the records, retired. About 1932 H M Newman entered partnership with R McGlew & Co., one of T M Newman's chief wool brokers in London, and the firm was then named Newman McGlew & Co.
