     He was of Mincing Lane in 1765 and in 1772 had a "burial crape & bunting warehouse" at 35 Wood St. In 1774 & 1777 he was in business at Watling Street, and in the London Directory of 1780 is listed as "Bunting & Ship's Colours Crape Warehouse". By 1789 he had moved to 2 Ingram Court, Fenchurch St, and is listed as Warehouseman. He last appears in 1797, but had already died between 27 April 1794 and 22 Sep 1794.

The William Long who inherited Hale - William Long of Bishops Cleeve, Gloucs. yeoman - made his will on 20 Feb 1835, with a codicil on 23 Oct 1837. It was proved 22 Nov. 1837 (PCCC Norwich 785) and in it he leaves his property to his niece Mary, wife of Joseph Aldridge of Standish Gloucs., and an annuity ot his nephew William Long of Bishop's Cleeve.
     William died after 1812.

     Eliza Barker Longstaff was born circa July 1838. She was the daughter of Willingham Longstaff and Elizabeth Barker.
     Eliza died on 13 June 1839 in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. This is probably a grand-daughter rather than a daughter. A gravestone in the south aisle of the Clayworth church, mentions John & Frances Barker, and their great granddaughter Eliza Barker Longstaff died 13 June 1839 aged 11 months.. She was buried on 18 June 1839 in Mattersey, Nottinghamshire.

     John studied at Trinity College, Cambridge University, on 26 January 1757. John was the Vicar at Darfield, Yorkshire, between 1767 and 1807. His sons were the Rt Rev John Lonsdale D.D. Lord Bishop of Lichfield, and the Rev Henry Lonsdale, late vicar of St Mary's Lichfield.
