Temple Belwood with 1695 acres of rich pasture and fertile arable land, the greater portion being freehold the remainder being copyhold of the Manor of Epworth. In the 1901 census Temple Belwood was a boarding house with Timothy ... Redcliff as proprietor with his wife, son and mother in law plus 16 boarders.
     Robert Bowker's diary stated: Temple Belwood was heavily mortgaged when he took possession. Spent $22.000 of his wife's money to do it up. He sold it in 1927 because of the agricultural depression with 16 farms to a syndicate for $30,000 - see his letter dated 4 July 1909. Very much in debt at his death [JNB 2 Aug 1975] see also will.
     John died on 28 September 1927 in Champneys Nursing Home, Tring, Hertfordshire, aged 81. He was buried on 30 September 1927 in Wade, Kent.
     His will was proved on 28 October 1927 in the Principal Probate Registry, London. He left his estate to Cicely Hilton Hilton-Johnson of Bevercotes, 12 Oban Rd, Bournemouth.
