There is no evidence to support him being the son or much more likely the grandson or even gt grandosn of Martin Jonathan except the comparitively unusual name. A Martin Handy aged 18 (b. c. 1832 in Ireland) lis listed in the 1850 Chittenden Vermont census. He was the son of Martin Jonathan Handy.

Brother in law Samuel Hillary, cousin Susanna Williams, nee Wright, cousin William Wright.
     Mary Handy married Joseph Robinson on 29 August 1694 in Ballinacarrick, Kiltennell, Wexford, Ireland. They had 11 children and are the ancestors of Michael Goodbody of Essex.
