     John Trougher Handy was born in 1792. He was the son of John Handy (of Wiltshire) and Elizabeth Smith.
     John Trougher Handy married Catherine Newman on 30 October 1823 at Corsham, Wiltshire. John was a solicitor.
     John died on 3 February 1850 at Malmesbury, Wiltshire. There is a memorial tablet on the wall of Malmesbury Abbey.

William Handy and Thomas Handy was listed in the household of P1 as a grandchild in the in 1821 census at Brackareagh, Ardnurcher or Horseleap, Westmeath. Four storied house no. 1 Sam W Handy, aged 70, gentleman and holder of 255 acres here & 90 acres in Gregham in King's Co., & 90 acres in Aughrim co. Galway, Catherine his wife age 64, Thomas Handy aged 26, his son; Dorothy aged 35, Maria aged 23 & Ruth aged 21 his daughters.

     Jonathan Handy was born on 16 November 1694 at Newcastle, Tikillin, Wexford, Ireland. He was the son of Thomas Handy.
     Jonathan died in 1738 at Dublin, Ireland. He is not mentioned in his brother Thomas' will dated July 1752, but his brother John is, of course the elder John may have died and this one was called John in later life. A Jonathan Handy's will was proved in 1759 but the Quaker records show him dying in 1738.

     A resident of Templemacateer, County Westmeath, Ireland, the son of a lieutenant in Oliver Cromwell's army, elder brother of Samuel Handy, and a member of the Methodist society at Templemacateer. John Wesley preached in Jonathan Handy's house on Friday evening, 2 April 1748. At a meeting at Tyrrellspass (also County Westmeath) three days later (5 April), John Wesley indicated that Handy, "greatly sorrowing before, was now enabled to rejoice in God. . ." Charles Wesley preached at Jonathan Handy's house at Templemacateer on 9 February 1748.
. 5, April 1748. Our room was filled at five. After preaching I examined the Classes. I found a surprising openness among them. When I asked one in particular, "How he had lived in time past? " he spread abroad his hands, and said, with many tears, "hear I stand, a grey-headed monster of all manner of wickedness;" which I verily believe, had it been desired, he would have explained before them all. Much in the same manner spoke one who came from Connaught, but with huge affliction and dismay: we determined to wrestle with God in her behalf, which we did for above and hour: and he heard the prayer, so that her soul was filled with joy unspeakable. Mr. Jonathan Handy, greatly sorrowing before, was also now enabled to rejoice in God....
     Jonathan Handy made a will dated 6 February 1759 at Brown St, Dublin. He described himself as Jonathan Handy of Brown Street in Dublin, gent and gives to his wife Hannah Handy for life the lease of Templem'Tire and lands Ballinakill & Killeenesallasan. He also mentions his daughter Jean Oakes & son Samuel Handy. He bequeaths Ballynakill to his son Samuel Handy & his issue. If they fail then to brother John Handy etc., if they fail then to brother Samuel Handy etc., if they fail then to sister Anne Fouace. His executors were to be his wife and daughter.
     Jonathan died before 14 August 1759 at Dublin, Ireland.
     His will was proved on 14 August 1759 at the Prerogative Court of Armagh. Jonathan Handy, gent, of John St, Dublin. The Genealogical Office pedigree, states Jonathan Handy of Brown/Brain St, Dublin, gent.
Rev Richard Fleming Handy in 1859 states that his grandfather Samuel had a brother Jonathan Esq. of Bracca Castle who died without issue and left Samuel his fortune.
Probate was granted to the executors named in his will.
His estate descended to his brother Samuel Handy.

     
     The progenitor of this family came over to Ireland as a Lieutenant in Cromwell's army. He did not obtain a grant of arms. The estate of Bracca Castle and other property was purchased by some of the family. Lt. Handy married and left a son, who married Joan Low, by whom he had issue three sons, the youngest being Samuel. This account conflicts with the pedigree at the Friends Library. They settled in co. Wexford
IWK Handy states that the progenitor of the Irish family accompanied Cromwell to Ireland, as an officer in the Dragoons in the Army. Jonathan had no surviving issue as he left his estates to his brother Samuel?. Jonathan Handy was born circa 1645. He was the son of Lt? Jonathan Handy.
