     Catherine Ellman was born circa 1834 in Battle, Sussex. She was the daughter of George Ellman and Mary Ann Poole. George was the son of John Ellman, renowned sheep breeder in the Glynde area. In April 1871, George and his wife Mary A, both aged 64 and retired farmers and their daughter Hariett aged 17 were living next door to Mary Ann Dempster, Robert's widow..
     Catherine Ellman married Robert Dempster, son of Robert Osborn Dempster and Mary Ann Denman, on 15 October 1855 in Hove, Sussex.      
Catherine Ellman and Robert Dempster emigrated from London on 4 November 1855 to India per "Essex".
     In Robert Dempster's will dated 22 August 1882 in St Thomas' Mount, Madras, India, Catherine Ellman was named as heir and executrix of the estate.

Catherine Ellman was an executor of Robert Dempster's estate on 3 February 1894 in the Principal Probate Registry, London. Catherine witnessed a document dated on 10 July 1897 in Guildford. (an unknown value).

     Catherine Ellman lived at 'Richmond House' Waterden Rd, Guildford, Surrey, England, between 1919 and 1922.

     Ann Emslie was born circa 1771 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. She claimed she was aged 50 in 1841 but could have been up to 54. A porssible death was in 1846 as a 75 year old. The only likely Ann with a fathr James in the OPRs was baptised in Old Meldrum on 23 January 1763: James Elmslie, carrier in Oldmeldrum had a daughter baptised and named Ann, witnesses James Ellis in G..ner and Charles Wright in Oldmeldrum. She was the daughter of James Emslie.
     Ann Emslie married John Bruce on 9 June 1792 in St Nicholas, Aberdeen, Scotland. Jno Bruce & Ann Emslie: Upon the ninth day of June 1792 by the Reverend Mr James Shand Minister of the College church in Aberdeen were lawfully married in the house of James Innes flaxdresser in Aberdeen, after due proclamation of banns, John Bruce flaxdresser in Aberdeen and Ann Emslie, the daughter of the deceased James Emslie, stabler in Aberdeen in presence of these witnesses, Robert Dawson and James Smith, both flaxdressers in Aberdeen.
     Ann Emslie and John Bruce appeared on the 1841 census in Burgh Muir, Inverurie. West side of street: John Bruce, 70, Innkeeper, Ann Bruce, 50, Julia Bruce 30, F.S., May/Mary Bruce 25, F.S., Eliza Bruce 15, F.S. All born in the county.
The next family is named Allen and that is followed by Elizabeth Maitland aged 40, (wife of farm servant, crossed out) and Mary Bruce aged 9, both born in the county. John Bruce and Ann Emslie was described as the living parent of Ann Bruce and Anne Riddell on arrival at Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, on 23 October 1841. Greenock, Scotland.
     Ann may have died on 3 June 1845 in St Nicholas, Aberdeen. Ann Bruce, Broad St, aged 72, of infiirmity, grave 746D, 10/- gound feu, 1/- registation, 10/- sexton.
