Ralph de Cromwell was the son of Ralph de Cromwell and Margaret de Somery (Bassett).
Leo Van de pas suggests: Richardson, in his Merlay-Somerville-Griffith line, gives
Isabel de Merlay, married before 7 May 1275 Robert de Somerville and two children are mentioned :
1.Philip de Somerville
2.Joan de Somerville, married Ralph de Cromwell, knt, Lineal ancestors of Ralph Cromwell, 1st Lord Cromwell

CP doesn't seem to record any of the Cromwells as knight. Joan Somerville seems to have married the Ralph de Cromwell who died before 2 March 1298/99.
This Ralph was born after "before 26 January 1270/71" and died about 28 years old.
Joan de Somerville's parents married "before 7 May 1275" which is about 23 years before Joan's husband died. This makes Joan a very young widow.
As CP does not give a wife to Ralph de Cromwell who died before 2 March 1298/99, what would be the source for making this Joan de Somerville the wife of _that_ Ralph?
