     Thomas Martin Cocksedge was born on 6 April 1813 in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. He was the son of Martin Thomas Cocksedge and Mary Susanna Le Heup. Thomas Martin Cocksedge was christened on 17 April 1816 in St James, Bury St Edmunds.
     Thomas was educated in 1822 in King Edward VI Free Grammar School, Bury St Edmunds.
     Thomas Martin Cocksedge married Ann Whale on 14 September 1837 in Billericay, Essex. They divorced about 1845.
     A note in the Oakes diaries suggests that he married a barmaid and 'ran through his money and sold the Mount to the Josselyn family and Eldo House'. Bury School p.79.
     Thomas Martin Cocksedge and Ann Whale appeared on the 1841 census in Westgate St, Bury St Edmunds. Thos M Cocksedge, 26?, esquire, born in the county, Ann ditto, 21, not born in the county.
     Thomas died on 5 May 1846 in York Terrace, Worthing (or Broadwater), Sussex, aged 33. Thomas Martin Cocksedge, son of the late Colonel Cocksedge of St Edmund's Hill, Suffolk and of Mary Susannah his wife, daughter of the late Michael Willm Lehuep Esq. of Hessett, Suffolk & Ashwell, Herts, died May 5 1846 aged 31. He died in a fire, the inquest being reported in the West Sussex gazette, 12 May 1846. He was buried after 5 May 1846 in Worthing. His gravestone reads: Sacred To the memory of Thomas Martin Cocksedge Esq. Eldest son of the late Colonel Cocksedge (of St Edmunds Hill Suffolk) And of Mary Susan his wife Daughter of the late Michael William Lehup Esq. (of Hessett Suffolk and Amwell Hertfordshire) Who died May 5th 1846 Age 31 years.
Also of Frances Susan. Daughter of Charles Tinling Esq. Who died January 27th 1832 Age 8 months.
