     James Page Cocksedge married Martha Beaumont on 17 July 1791 in St John Timberhill, Norwich, Norfolk.
     He was mentioned in documents at the Norfolk Record Office - 1808, in July & Sep 1828, as esquire, citizen and sheriff of Norwich, also as a grocer.
     An administration bond dated 1822 for James Page Cocksedge ... natural and lawful brother next of kin of Samuel Cocksedge, late of Cromer in Norfolk, widower, deceased, intestate.

     Among the Company papers is an Apprenticeship indenture - dated 21 May 1803 - James Cocksedge, son of James Cocksedge of Rickinghall, baker apprenticed to William Housden, of Lambeth, Surrey, carpenter. This may be his father. James Samuel Cocksedge was born circa 1818 in Suffolk.
     James Samuel Cocksedge married Mary Ann Unknown between January 1848 and March 1848 in Stow RD, Suffolk.
     Agreement dated 26 April 1870 between James Samuel Cocksedge, of Stowmarket, ironfounder, James Woods of Stowmarket, gent, Edmund Freeman Woods of Stowmarket, ironfounder, John W C C Morrison and George G Nicol of London, trustees and the North Britiah and Mercantile Insurance Company.
     He was the founder of Cocksedge & Co. Ltd and his son JWA Cocksedge became a partner.

     James Woods Arthur Cocksedge was christened on 1 January 1857 in Stowmarket, Suffolk. He was the son of James Samuel Cocksedge and Mary Ann Unknown.

James Woods Arthur Cocksedge, son of James Samuel Cocksedge of Stowmarket, ironfounder apprenticed to Edmund Freeman Woods, James Samuel Cocksedge and Edward Warner of the ironworks, Stowmarket trading under the firm of Woods, Cocksedge and Warner.
     The business in Grey Friars Road consisted of a small foundry, a pattern shop and an engineering shop and it employed 12 men. A few years later Mr Cocksedge took his son, Mr JWA Cocksedge into partnership. Mr JWA Cocksedge has for some years previously been gaining experience with two large engineering firms in London. Business increased and when the original premises became too small they were supplemented by the acquisition of an additional building situated on the other side of the road. Administration of the estate of James Samuel Cocksedge was granted to James Woods Arthur Cocksedge, on 9 July 1887 in Ipwich Administration (with will) of James Samuel Cocksedge, of Ipswich, ironfounder was granted to James Woods Arthur Cocksedge, of 13 St Peters St, Ipswich, ironfounder, son and one of the residuary legatees.
     James died on 20 May 1928 in Ipwich, Suffolk, aged 71.

     At his daughter Elizabeth's baptism in Jan 1651/2, he is described as John jr. which implies he had a father John living.
A John Cocksedge, widower of Bradfield Combust had his will proved in 1681.

     He was possibly married previously to Mary, note that two wives of John Cocksedges were buried at Rougham in 1662, one of Monk Bradfield 3 Nov (Hannah's husband) and the other "in the Lane" Jan 12 1662/3. John Cocksedge was born say 1640 in Rougham, Suffolk. This link is only assumed. He was the son of John Cocksedge.

     In the Rougham glebe terrier dated c. 1672 John is mentioned as having land to the north of the second part of the glebe.
     John Cocksedge was mentioned in the 1674 hearth tax list in Rougham, SFK, with 2 or 4 hearths. There were 2 John Cocksedges at Rougham: Jo. Cockseage, Jo. Howe and Fr. Sturgin with 3 hearths, and Jo. Cocksedge & Jo. Kinge with 4 hearths.
Note that there are two other Johns at Culford and Wetherden.

     John died before 2 May 1733 in Rougham, SFK. He was buried on 2 May 1733 in Rougham. John Cocksedge; but there was also a death of John Cocksedge on 5 Mar 1732/3.

     John Cocksedge was christened on 9 December 1694 in Rougham, Suffolk. He was the son of John Cocksedge and Ann Bowles.
     John Cocksedge married Catherine Nights in June 1718 in Gt Barton, Suffolk. John was widowed before 29 March 1722 in Rougham, SFK, on the death of his wife Catherine Nights.
     John Cocksedge married Margaret Bird on 19 September 1723 in Rougham, SFK.
     He must have moved from Rougham to Hessett between 1726 & 1728, see baptisms of sons Thomas and William.
Note that there were two contemporary couples having children at Rougham - John & Margaret with issue 1724 & Aug 1726 and John & Mary with issue May 1720-1729, unless John was widowed and remarried Mary but it would be unusual to baptise the younger child after the elder.
     He is presumably the overseer of the poor in Hessett from February 9 1729 to 1733 when his name (with mark) appears with those of the other churchwardens and overseers in the parish register.

[II] Leheup's expense. John was widowed before 23 January 1768 in Hessett, Suffolk, on the death of his wife Margaret Bird.
     John Cocksedge made a will dated 22 June 1785 in Stansfield, Suffolk. He mentions his children Thomas, William, Michael, Margaret & Benjamin. Will of John Cocksedge sr. of Rougham, ... but now residing in Stansfield Hall and in the said county do make this my last ... I trust my Exec. hereafter mentioned will see my body decently enterred and as to what worldly goods whether lands, moneys or chattels here or elsewhere I give and bequeath to my dear son Thos Cocksedge of Stansfield paying out of my estate and effects at Rougham first the mortgage namely £220 to my son William Cocksedge £5.00 to Michael £5.00 Margaret £5.00 Benjamin £5.00 and after the said legacies are paid and my funeral expenses discharged then my will and pleasure is that the aforesaid Thomas Cocksedge shall make the best of and receive the residue for his use and to his disposal. And lastly I do nominate my son Thomas Cocksedge sole executor ... in witness whereof... set my hand and seal 22nd June 1785. X the mark of John Cocksedge, in the presence of William Gilly sr., Richard Boreham, John Johnson.
     John died before 9 November 1785 in Hessett, Suffolk. Note that a John Cocksedge was buried at Hessett in 1745, fiche copy of entry is almost illegible. He was buried on 9 November 1785 in Hessett. He was described as a widower, aged 96.
     His will was proved in 1786 in Suffolk.

     John Cocksedge was born on 30 June 1790 in Hessett, Suffolk. He was the son of Benjamin Cocksedge and Bridget Mills. John Cocksedge was christened on 4 July 1790 in Hessett.
     John died before 19 October 1794 in Hessett, SFK. He was buried on 19 October 1794 in Hessett.
