George Augustus Busby

(circa 1778? - 1852)
     George Augustus Busby was born circa 1778?.
     George Augustus Busby married Eleanor Shillingford in 1809 in Bicester, Oxfordshire. She had two surviving children by this marriage: Charlotte and Ralph Augustus Villiers Busby. Charlotte married Otto Adolphus Victor Alexander Berens in 1832.Charlotte and Otto died quite young leaving their only son Alexander to be brought up by his uncle Dr Ralph A V Busby, but Eleanor's grand daughter went on to become a countess and her gt grand daughter a viscountess.
     George died George Augustus Busby was a linen draper from Bicester, Oxon and it is believed that he was in Hook Norton lunatic asylum in 1841 (census) but was transferred to Littlemore asylum where he died in 1852 aged 71 years in 1852.

     Hans Busk was born on 2 April 1718 in England. He was the son of Jacob Hans Busk of Sweden & Rachel Wordsworth who married 18/11/1713. Jacob Hansson Busk, was the son of Hans Hansson Busk by Barbara his wife, born at Kongelst, in Sweden, who was naturalized by Act of parliament 1720, 9 Geo I. A copy of this act is at Fryston. Hans was a woollen merchant. He often travelled from Bullhouse ot Leeds in a coach with six horses. Her was one of the merchants who belonged to the "Leeds Wakefield Trsutees" supervising road improvements in 1758 and raising money for the turnpikes, Leeds, Yorkshire.
     Hans Busk married Martha Marrion Rodes, daughter of Richard Rodes and Martha Rich.
     Hans died on 12 February 1792 in Leeds, YKS, aged 73. He was buried in St John's, Leeds.

     Mary Anne Busk married James Milnes or Rich on 24 February 1778 in Penistone, Yorkshire. Her husband was sometime M P for Bletchingly, High Sheriff of Yorkshire 1806. He took the surname & arms of Rich by Royal Licence 17 Aug 1802. After her death he retook the surname of Milnes by Royal Licence 13 Jan 1803..
     Mary died on 10 November 1802 in Yorkshire aged 47. They had no issue.. She was buried in Wakefield, Yorkshire.

     A marriage settlement between Rachael Busk and Richard Slater Milnes or Rich was made on 28 May 1781. Pre-nuptial settlement (lease and release) - 28-29 May 1781: Mary Rodes of Gt Houghton spinster, one of the sisters and co-heiress of Richard Rodes, deceased, to Pemberton Milnes of Wakefield and John Hatfield of Laughton-en-le-Morthen, Yorks, in consideration of a marriage to be had between Richard Slater Milnes of Newland Park, Yorks, (only son and heir of Robert Milnes, deceased) and Rachel Busk (daughter of Hans Busk of Leeds and Martha his wife, formerly Martha Rodes, another sister and co-heir of Richard Rodes). All the manor of Gt. Houghton and capital messuage of Houghton Hall with messuages, closes etc. (named) in Gt. Houghton, 2 rent charges of £6 each payable out property in Barnsley, par.Silkstone, and Grimesthorpe, South Kirkby heretofore the estate of Samuel Smith, deceased, and messuage and closes late the property of Thomas Box; to the use of Mary Rodes for life and then to the said Richard Slater Milnes and Rachel Busk and their issue [as stated] and the right heirs of Richard; but if the eldest son shall inherit the estates devised by Aymor Rich's will (quoted in full) then to the second son; Richard Slater Milnes also undertakes to secure to the trustees £15,000, to the use of Rachel, their issue, and then to uses of her will.
     Rachael Busk married Richard Slater Milnes or Rich, son of Robert Milnes and Joyce Slater, on 31 May 1781 in Darfield, Yorkshire.
     She retook the surname of Milnes by Royal Licence dated 8th Oct 1805.
     Rachael died in 1835.

     Mary Butler married Sir George Hamilton Bart (of Dunnalong), son of James Hamilton Earl of Abercorn and Marion Boyd, circa 2 June 1629. They had six sons and three daughters..
     A marriage settlement between Mary Butler and Sir George Hamilton Bart (of Dunnalong) was made on 28 February 1635. An unpublished deed in the Ormond Collection records the marriage agreement between George Hamilton, knight of 'Dunelonge' and James earl of Ormnd of 28 Feb 1635 regarding the marriage intended between Hamilton and Mary Butler, sister of the earl, which was to take place before the last day of April. This was followed up on 1 May 1640 by a grant to the same Sir George, referred to in this case as George Hamilton of Knockanderig in the county of Tipperary, knight and baronet, and Lady Mary Butler, specified as the sister of the earl, of the manor, castle, town and lands of Nenagh for 31 years.
Knockanderig was Knockaunderrick, the old name for Silvermines, some five miles south south west of Nenagh..
     Mary died in August 1680.

     Lady Mary Butler was born. She was the sixth daughter of Walter, eleventh Earl of Ormonde.. She was the daughter of Walter Butler 11th Earl of Ormonde.
     Lady Mary Butler married Sir George Hamilton (of Greenlaw), son of Claud Hamilton (Baron Paisley) and Margaret Seton, circa 14 February 1630. She was probably his second wife.
     A marriage settlement between Lady Mary Butler and Sir George Hamilton (of Greenlaw) was made on 14 February 1630 in Ireland. Walter agreed to pay Hamilton a marriage portion of £1800, After many years of struggle including some years in prison, in his efforts to regain his rightful inheritance of all the Ormond estates, Walter lived to see the reuniting of these vast estates with the marriage of his grandson and heir, James, to Elizabeth Preston, the grand daughter of Thomas 10th Earl of Ormond. Despite his good fortune the estates were still burdened with debts and, as the £1800 was not forthcoming, Walter now joined by his grandson James and his wife Elziabeth in a deed dated 16 April 1631 graned the manor, castle, town and lands of Roscrea to Sir George Hamilton and Dame Mary his wife for 21 years, in part payment of the dowry.
