     David Burt wrote: My Great Gt. Gt. Grandmother was (1770-1849) Martha Grimwade/wood. She married (1775-1832) Thomas Phillips Burt in Norton, Suffolk. The name Thomas Phillips Burt then missed a generation but was used in the next 2 generations, for my great grandfather and one of his sons. I think that the two families, Burt's and Grimwades were very good friends and probably lived next to each other in Norton. On April 9th 1788 there was a great fire in Norton, which started in a bakery and spread in an easterly direction for about 150 metres burning down 5 farm houses, stables and barns and 9 cottages, the homes of 14 poor families. In all 20 families lost their homes. Among them were Mr Grimwood/wade and Mr George Burt, father of Thomas Phillips Burt who married Martha Grimwood/wade.
